You cannot cross Callahan Bridge until you complete Salvatore Leone's Portland finale mission 'Last Requests'. Completing this mission triggers the bridge repair and opens the Porter Tunnel to Staunton Island. Shoreside Vale unlocks later after completing Donald Love's mission 'A Drop in the Ocean'.
After the mission 'Sayonara Salvatore', the Leone Mafia becomes permanently hostile and equips heavy SPAS-12 shotguns in Saint Mark's. Always finish the Portland Paramedic, Vigilante, and Payphone missions before assassinating Salvatore.
The Dodo has clipped wings and acts like a glider. Accelerate until sparks fly, tap Down Arrow once to lift off, then immediately tap Up Arrow to pitch the nose down level with the horizon. Sustained climbing causes the engine to stall.
